Are crash games legal in India?
By Alex Morgan · Last updated 30 October 2026
Legal status
India's Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 covers online money games, including real-money crash games. See our India legal guide for the details and sources.
Legal status is summarised from the sources listed below. It is not legal advice.
Short answer: no, not for real money. India’s Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 prohibits offering, advertising and facilitating payments for online money games. Real-money crash games such as Aviator fall within that definition. This is general information, not legal advice.
What the Act covers
- Prohibited: offering online money games, advertising them, and banks or payment systems facilitating payments for them.
- Promoted: e-sports and online social games with no money stakes.
- Timeline: Presidential assent on 22 August 2025. Draft rules were published in October 2025, and we are tracking their final form and enforcement.
What it means in practice
- Indian-licensed real-money crash games are not available.
- Payments to offshore gaming sites may be blocked, and there’s no Indian regulator to help in a dispute.
- Ads and influencer promotions for Aviator are a red flag in themselves.
Scams to watch for
The ban hasn’t stopped the scams. Predictor apps, Telegram “signal” groups and fake Aviator APKs still circulate. They can’t predict anything and often steal UPI and bank credentials. Read Aviator predictors debunked.
