Crash games vs slots: differences in variance

The biggest difference: in a crash game you choose the volatility on every bet with your cash out target, while a slot’s volatility is fixed by the game’s maths model. Low targets make a crash game behave like a low-volatility slot, and high targets make it behave like a jackpot game. See How Crash Games Work for the mechanics.

For players in Kenya: examples on this page are in shillings. A KSh 100 stake at 2x returns KSh 200, and the win chances are the same at every casino running the game.

Side by side

	Crash games	Slots
Who sets volatility	You (cash out target)	The game design
Typical RTP range	Often high-90s	Varies widely by game and casino
Round speed	Seconds, often continuous	Seconds per spin
Decisions	Stake + cash out	Stake (+ features)
Social features	Live bets, chat	Usually none
Provably fair	Common	Rare

What it means for your bankroll

Volatility you control is useful if you use it: low targets with small stakes give long, steady sessions. But crash rounds don’t stop between bets the way a spin button does, so total bet per hour can be high. Track rounds and time, and use bankroll rules.
