The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB)
By Alex Morgan · Last updated October 31, 2026
The MGCB (Michigan Gaming Control Board) is the state agency that licenses and polices online casinos in Michigan. If you play Aviator, JetX or any other crash game for real money in Michigan, the MGCB is the reason you can trust the result: it approves operators and games, and enforces the rules on age, location and responsible gaming. Official site: Michigan Gaming Control Board.
What the MGCB does
- Licenses operators. Every online casino in Michigan needs MGCB approval, and each platform partners with a Detroit commercial casino or a Michigan tribe.
- Approves games. Each crash game must be approved before a licensed casino can offer it.
- Enforces player protections: 21+ age checks, geolocation, responsible gaming tools and fair-play testing.
- Publishes the approved list. The MGCB publishes the authorized online gaming operators and platform providers on its website. If a site isn’t on the list, it isn’t legal in Michigan.
Self-exclusion and help
The MGCB runs the Internet Gaming and Sports Betting Responsible Gaming Database, which lets you exclude yourself from all licensed online casinos and sportsbooks. A separate Disassociated Persons List covers the Detroit casinos.
Since February 2024, Michigan uses 1-800-GAMBLER as its statewide helpline; calls from Michigan are routed to the state health department’s line. The MGCB also has a responsible gaming line at 888-223-3044.
